Hi, I am Lisa Johnson, recipe developer and photographer here at Yummy Healthy Keto. My focus is on creating low-carb, sugar-free meals using wholesome ingredients.
I have spent the better part of the past 12 years eating “Clean” or Paleo and Whole30 but something just wasn’t working! I was working out 6 days a week and not loosing any weight. My “healthy” smoothies were actually sabotaging my efforts.
I have done Atkins a couple of times in the past but it wasn’t sustainable, at least not for me. Atkins has tons of dessert recipes and allows diet sodas, all of which contained Nutrasweet/Aspartame which is a toxic chemical.
After series of bizarre symptoms lead me to urgent care, I was diagnosed with Aspartame Toxicity! I couldn’t survive doing Atkins again with no sweets whatsoever, so I ultimately went back to my bad eating habits and carbs. Potatoes are healthy, right?
Times have changed, Stevia is no longer banned by the FDA. We have Erythritol and Monkfruit as options that do not raise blood sugar and are made from natural foods, not chemicals. Keto gave me hope and options!!
