Hi, I am Lisa Johnson, recipe developer and photographer here at Yummy Healthy Keto. My focus is on creating low-carb, sugar-free meals using wholesome ingredients.
I have spent the better part of the past 12 years eating “Clean” or Paleo and Whole30 but something just wasn’t working! I was working out 6 days a week and not loosing any weight. My “healthy” smoothies were actually sabotaging my efforts.
I have done Atkins a couple of times in the past but it wasn’t sustainable, at least not for me. Atkins has tons of dessert recipes and allows diet sodas, all of which contained Nutrasweet/Aspartame which is a toxic chemical. After series of bizarre symptoms lead me to urgent care, I was diagnosed with Aspartame Toxicity! I couldn’t survive doing Atkins again with no sweets whatsoever, so I ultimately went back to my bad eating habits and carbs. Potatoes are healthy, right?
Times have changed, Stevia is no longer banned by the FDA. We have Erythritol and Monkfruit as options that do not raise blood sugar and are made from natural foods, not chemicals. Keto gave me hope and options!!
What you will find on Yummy Healthy Keto
All recipes include step-by-step images within the post with complete instructions to guide you as you make the recipe at home.
Nutritional data is included in all of my recipe cards. These are provided as a guide to help you, but cannot be guaranteed to be 100% accurate in every situation, or with any recipe substitutions that may have been made.
I am not a doctor, nurse or registered dietitian. I will never give you medical advice, you have a personal physician that can do that. I provide you with information about what has worked or not worked for me personally.
I will always seek out answers to questions from the actual doctors and “gurus” in the keto field and pass my finding along to you. There is no one way to live a ketogenic lifestyle which is why there are usually so many questions. I love to research and I want all of the answers so I can make educated decisions for myself and ultimately pass those findings on to you as well.
Please feel free to leave comments or email me at lisa (at) yummyhealthketo (dot) com to ask any questions that you may have. You can also follow me on social media and receive answers from fellow ketoers like yourself. We are all in this together!!
Thanks so much for visiting, Lisa
