Keto Mocha
A rich and creamy Keto Mocha is my favorite way to start the day! I add a collagen protein powder and butter/ghee to keep my protein and fat levels up and use it to break my fast post workout.
Is that totally weird? I used to have a protein smoothie after working out but I never lost any weight, too much sugar in the fruit I guess. There are no worries about sugar with this Keto Mocha recipe!
How to make a Keto Mocha at Home
Add the cacao powder, collagen power, golden sweetener and stevia to a 16 ounce mug.
Pour in the espresso and vanilla extract, stir to combine.
Add some of the steamed milk and the ghee to the mug. Stir until all of the powder is dissolved.
Add the remaining milk and foam, stir to combine and serve.
You can call it good at this point, or if you are feeling really decadent you can top off your mocha with whipped cream and shaved unsweetened chocolate!
Now kick back and enjoy your creation!! Yes, this is how I relax and brainstorm, and force myself to step away from the computer for a few minutes.
Minus the whipped cream, I am lactose-intolerant. 🙁 It just looks so pretty topped with whipped cream!!
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Technically this Bulletproof Collagen Protein Powder is not a complete protein, it is missing tryptophan. I use it more for the collagen than the protein, I’m hoping to give my skin a boost! Use your favorite brand.
- Adding Stevia Powder adds another layer of sweetness without adding any carbs.
- I like Swerve golden sweetener, but granulated works just as well.
- I used Ghee because I am severely allergic to coconut! Feel free to substitute coconut oil, MCT oil or coconut cream if you prefer.
- Califia Farms Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk does not contain carrageenan or guar gum. Feel free to substitute homemade almond milk or unsweetened coconut milk.
- If you do not have an espresso machine at home, you can substitute double-strength brewed coffee.
- Most espresso machines sold for home use do not have enough power to steam milk. You can “froth” heated milk with a hand blender or pour your mocha into a high speed blender to mix it up.

I just made this Keto Mocha and really enjoyed it. The only modification I made was to add both 1 Tbsp of Kerrygold Unsalted Grass Fed butter in addition to 1 Tbsp of Nature’s Way Organic MCT oil to bump up my keto fat macros a bit. After blending the steamed milk, espresso & ingredients together for about 15 seconds, the end result was deliciously smooth and creamy.
